Located in the heart of London’s dynamic cityscape, Woods Quay maintains a profound link to nature, guided by the changing tides and seasons. Sustainability is at the core of what we do, inspiring us to continually explore new ways to reduce our impact on the environment.
A summary of our latest sustainability improvementsConstructed in South England’s historic shipyards, both Woods Quay and the Silver Fleet vessels are built with British Steel, UK-sourced wood, and natural materials for carpets and upholstery.
The venue also boasts a green sedum roof that promotes biodiversity, reduces rainwater runoff, and insulates the East Wing, West Wing, and Cormorant Deck.
Built for long life, our vessels are designed to last 75-100 years and are maintained through regular inspections at local shipyards and by the Marine Coastguard Agency.
Powered by Octopus Energy, Woods Quay operates on 100% renewable electricity from the sun, wind, and water. Nearly all our lighting is energy-efficient LED, with the venue fully illuminated by dimmable LED lights.
Marcus Cunningham, our Head Chef, creates plant-based, ultra-low carbon menus where vegetarian and vegan options are the stars, with carnivore selections available as an option.
We source beef and lamb from Lake District Farms, known for their significantly lower carbon emissions, while our organic chicken is Soil Association certified. We take a zero-waste approach, using the whole bird across our menus. All our fish are Marine Conservation Society and Marine Stewardship Council accredited, and our UK drinks suppliers are pioneers in net-zero production. Our skilled event planners offer sustainability guidance, from low-energy menus to reusable and recyclable styling. Woods Quay is equipped with sustainable innovations, including plant-based menus and biodegradable interior elements, ensuring your event reflects both style and environmental care.
